Magic, something every child wishes they could create. Many of us leave this desire behind as we enter the adult realm. In a world filled with competition, cruelty, and pain, many believe that magic we used to want simply can’t be created. However, for some of us this dream never left and is held close to our hearts throughout maturity. Keeping this idea in mind photographer Pete Lott and model Caitlin Arkay, who is represented by Rob Morales Photography Agency, created the “A Certain Magic” set. Combining elements of sexiness with artistic posing, color theory, and lighting, the passionate duo tried to really emphasize the desire for youth, innocence, and most importantly that magic does exist in all of us.
One of the most important aspects within boudoir photography is moodiness. This is a concept that resonates deeply with Caitlin Arkay. One of the beliefs she lives by as a frequent boudoir model is “anyone can pose in lingerie and take a sexy picture, but when the photographer and model have a story to tell through expression and emotion is when it becomes a beautiful work of art.” This philosophy was taken into account by Pete, and the creativity was instantly flowing smoothly. Both Pete and Caitlin brainstormed prior to the shoot as well as in the very moment to develop the final concept. Overall, the set was accomplished through a few key concepts. Tones, warm tones in specific, create a cozy vibe, bringing the audience back to a time in which they felt joy.
