Stasi Berezovskaya & Kyle Studstill - Constellation's Charm
June 2018 Issue - - Posted: June 27, 2018
While working with this collection’s designer I was particularly fascinated by how the pieces draw inspiration from various mythologies surrounding heavenly bodies, each guided by celestial themes. I honestly believe that few things are as beautiful as the impossibly vast sea of stars through which we all endlessly drift; while it might make some feel hopelessly small, I think there’s something reassuring in the fact that we all are just doing our best while stumbling around our own little corner of this tiny rock, watching the moon slowly make the waves. So these photos cast a decidedly more optimistic light on a subject that is sometimes known to be dark and dramatic. We guided the looks with a romanticized take on flapper-era productions like the Ziegfeld Follies, adding playful charm to our model’s already beautiful sense for sexy and feminine poses. We opted to use the light of the sun to shape deeply natural shadows, working alongside rather than against our closest cherished star.
