Boudoir Interview - Deep Red - Claire Louise & Sinem Uğur Bilgin

Webitorial, September 2022 Issue Vol 2 - Interviews - - Posted: August 29, 2022, Updated: September 12, 2022

Claire is a versatile, petite model/actress with high energy and a passion for creative and fashion expression. Sinem is a talented boudoir photographer working in her Photo Studio GOODVIBES. They are both from Jacksonville, FL. We have asked them a few questions for their interview.

The following questions have been answered by the model, Claire Louise:

01) What does boudoir photography mean to you?

Boudoir photography is about enhancing both natural confidence and beauty. It gives the model and the photographer a chance to get outside each of their respective comfort zones, and showcases the model's outer beauty through the skill of the photographer while showcasing the model's inner beauty through the confidence and expressiveness of the model themselves.

02) What got you started in boudoir/fine art modeling?

I began modeling as an art model at university, which really helped me overcome personal self-confidence and body image issues. When I completed my transition to modeling for photography (and in a variety of genres), I always kept a passion for mental and emotional health awareness and wanted to find ways to combine that passion with modeling. I found that combination in boudoir and fine art modeling.

03) How do you educate yourself to take better photos?

I look at other models' and photographers' work. I learn so much from simply observing other models and photographers at work. Then I practice posing and transitioning through poses at home so it feels more natural.

04) From this set, which one is your favorite? Why?

The skill of my photographer and the amount of amazing images we captured truly make it impossible to choose a favorite from this set. If I had to choose, it would be the shot from behind of me walking up the stairs and looking back towards the camera. I used to be extremely self-conscious of my butt, and really disliked all photos taken of me from behind. It got to the point where I would let it affect how I behaved in certain outfits and even let it affect my posing during photoshoots. To now be so self-confident and at-home in my body, and to trust my photographer enough to pose and highlight my butt in this way is really gratifying and makes me proud.

05) Just for fun, if you could shoot in any location, where would it be?

I would shoot in the mountains. I have not had the opportunity to truly visit the mountains and, as you can see in this set, I love bringing modeling out of the studio. Whereas this set is in a more urban setting, I grew up in and love the woods and would love the opportunity to shoot some fashion, boudoir, and fine art with a mountain aesthetic.

06) Do you have any other profession or anything you are passionate about?

I love to act. I like to say I "have a passion for creative expression", and, along with modeling and singing, find that I am truly doing what I love and can truly express my self through acting. I used to sing and study opera, but transitioned to film acting a few years ago. I love being able to both live through so many lives and experiences, and to transport people to other lives, worlds, and times and make them feel something.

The following questions have been answered by the photographer, Sinem Ugur Bilgin:

01) What does boudoir photography mean to you?

Boudoir Photography is my obsession. I see human body as a work of art and I love capturing the beauty of it.

02) What kind of creative process is there behind boudoir photography?

I love using different kind of lights and combining them. I also like adding some dramatic touches to my photos, that’s why I detail-edit them. I mostly start with Photoshop then use Lightroom. I also like playing with Photography apps like Crystalic.

03) What type of cameras/gear do you shoot with, boudoir and/vs other?

I always shoot with Canon. I have 2 Canons for different lenses. I like Canon’s colors the best.

04) How would you describe your photography style?

My Photography Style is definitely about connecting with people and bring the creative side out of them. I love matching my style with my client’s personality! There is no editing style that fits for everyone so I create different presets for different personalities.

05) From this set, which one is your favorite? Why?

To be honest I cannot pick a favorite because they all make me feel different. They are my art. I love it all!

06) What is the most difficult part of being a boudoir photographer for you?

I try to keep my family Photos and Boudoir Photos in different accounts because most of my clients don’t feel comfortable me sharing them on public platforms.

07) What is the most rewarding part of being a boudoir photographer for you?

I help people see the best in themselves. Their happiness makes me happy! Sharing the same feelings is priceless. This is my reward.

We have discovered that an urban environment is, in reality, the perfect setting to get deep.
